Hardwood Lumber & Secondary Manufacturers

WOODPRO InSight is designed to fulfill the unique requirements of the lumber and building products industry for both hardwood and softwood. This industry specific system simplifies hardwood matters and addresses the complex production processes, warehousing and logistical services that secondary manufacturers engage in to ensure demands are met.  It helps business reduce costs, as well as increase operational efficiency, and revenue.

Inventory Management: Provides a useful item generator that simplifies and controls the generation of new item numbers. Successfully tracks hardwood products, as well as panels, veneers, custom milling, moulding, laminates, and plywood in a variety of Units of Measure specific to each product line.  Manages costs and pricing across multiple locations, customers, and suppliers.  Tracks on-hand, in-transit, and on-order supply and demand.

Sales Management: Speeds order fulfillment with sophisticated back-to-back order processing including direct purchase orders, quick re-man, and make to order work orders.  In addition, you can create sales orders within the WoodPro InSight customer service application, enhanced by Prophet, a CRM software for Outlook.

Warehouse Management: Supports handheld devices, tag printing, and directly interfaces with PLC-enabled equpiment to speed up and provide more timely and accurate inventory information.  Tracks items and tags and their related costs from vendor receipt, air dry, kiln dry, and other production processes through to their final destinations.

Tag & Tally Management: Handles both gross and net tally calculation, piece, and block tallies, rescaling and drawdown methodologies, and logs.  Five different log scaling methods are supported.  (i.e., International, Scribner, Doyle, BC/Smalian, and User Defined formula).

Customer Relationship Enhancement:  Service levels will be enhanced as throughput becomes predictable and due dates are more reliable, work-in-progress is reduced, and better utilization of resources as hidden capacity is uncovered.

User-Defined Inventory Policy:  Essential information regarding production lead time, vendor lead-time, preferred vendor, reorder point, batching mode, and safety levels that affect inventory can be defined according to manufacturing branch or location

Routing and Shop Floor Control:  Track production through Resource Centers at various levels of granularity.  Support for Work Orders and Repetitive (Work Orderless) manufacturing environments using transactions and/or Production Performance Metrics is available.   Track indirect activities such as down-time, changeovers, and miscellaneous feedback.

Production Transaction Costing:  Information can be rationalized as rules-based accounting and costing formulas can be assigned as items move in and out of inventory.

Make to Order Environment:  Costs (either through Quick Reman or Full Work Order back-to-back support) can be tied directly to a Sales Order rather than going through inventory.

Data Collection and Bar Coding:  Data can be updated electronically from tally machines or handheld data collection devices. Not only does this save time, but errors are also minimized.

Automatic Conversion:  Lumber (including logs) in pieces, board feet, square feet, metric, package sizes, tags, tallies, random length, random width, etc., are converted from one unit to another.

Bill of Materials:  Reliable standard and multi-level Bill of Materials (BOM) can be used to manage and streamline manufacturing processes. BOM supports Phantom Assemblies and Production Back-Flushing by automatically calculating the costs to finished manufactured products, and the components they were manufactured from.

Advanced Planning & Scheduling:  Firms of any size can benefit from more realistic plans. Real-time answers are provided through multi-level explosion inquiry and reporting. Graphical Planning Board can be used to capture production environments graphically and enhance visibility. Finite Capacity Scheduling helps you synchronize demand with capacity from your production floor.

Detailed Forecasting: Supply & Demand forecasting for future material needs for different categories can be grouped by any time-frame for either a summary or detailed formats.
